Doing business in the 21st Century is evolving in association with new opportunities such as vast information made available through information technology and internet, fast decision making, and capabilities to reach wider areas and with new challenges such as cutthroat competition. As such, it is critically important to create such business capabilities like efficient and strategic marketing in order to succeed in the business world of the 21st century.
The Department of Marketing Management was established in 1998 E.C (2005 G.C) with the aim of producing qualified and competent marketing professionals to meet the needs of private, government & non-government organizations. However, before the department was formally established, it had started its activity by providing Diploma program in Marketing Management to evening students by an assigned coordinator. The department in its part has been contributing towards meeting the country’s demand for trained human resource in the area of sales & marketing. From its establishment to date, the department has graduated a number of students both in diploma and first degree graduates in Marketing Management. The department is currently one of the seven departments and the college has two schools that offer graduate level teaching in the regular, extension & summer program. In recognition of the government’s initiation in capacity building and overall reform programs, it was found that the knowledge-based marketing management, proposed postgraduate study program needed to create opportunity for the training to teachers assigned at government and private universities; and also for organizations of private, governmental and non-governmental that need highly trained marketing professionals; in order to enhance competitiveness at local, national and global levels, the department launched postgraduate program in Marketing Management in 2012.
A student who wants to join the department is required to have the minimum admission criteria; minimum CGPA of the University, relatedness of the undergraduate degree, entrance exam (for MA Applicants). Our department consists of active scholars well recognized for their high teaching, research and consultancy standards (four active PHD holders; two with Associate professor Status & two Assistant professorship statuses, two (asst. Prof) PHD candidates in study leave, 4 asst. prof, 7 Lecturers. Members of the department are involved in research and have published in refereed journals.
